I highly think my father has swine flu. He’s been coughing, sneezing and has the runs. How can I avoid from getting it?! I’m not sure if/when he’s going to the doctor. Any ideas on how to avoid it?

Ask him to cover his mouth when he coughs.
Dispose of used tissues promptly.
Hand washing. ( For both of you )
Other than avoiding him altogether there is little else you can do but cross your fingers.
Good luck.

One: Don’t make out with him… just sayin’.
Two: Don’t breathe his nasty air.
Three: Run away from home and join the circus.

The same way you avoid getting the seasonal flu. Wash your hands OFTEN. Get plenty of rest, eat healthy food, exercise. If you are caring for your father wear a face mask. After you remove the mask remember to wash your hands. Make sure your father gets lots of rest. If he starts to experience any type of respiratory distress get him to a doctor right away. The attached article talks about how to recognize symptoms and how to stay healthy. Good luck!

You’re more susceptible to getting sick anyway if your immune system is weak. As the previous poster said wash your hands regularly.
