Why do liberals oppose such sensible Republican health care reforms such as medical malpractice reform, interstate portability of health plans and tax-free health savings accounts?
Is it because the Democrats don’t want to anger their trial lawyer buddies, and love taxes so much that they will never agree to allow anything to be tax-free?

Heck, they won’t even acknowledge that they exist.

Dems are willing to go halfway and reduce the power of the public option. The Republicans also need to go halfway.

Yes to the trial lawyer concern, and also because liberals have much more faith in government than the free market. They also want to increase the size and power of the Federal government, and conservative health reforms don’t do that.

Liberals oppose any Republican plan because it doesn’t include someone else paying for their care.

because they are in charge, and they want no credit to go to an "enemy".

Liberals don’t oppose most of these things, in fact, Obama said he supports malpractice reform during his speech. The problem with the Republican proposals is that they wouldn’t do very much. Health savings accounts forex are already law, and pretty good, but no one has even heard of them.

Because these propositions do not give them the power and control they so desperately seek. These things would actually leave the choices up to the American people, not the elitist "representatives" in "congress".

I oppose Republican health care proposals. What are they saying? I know what they are saying and it isn’t good. They are telling us that even if the democrats do not shove this down our throats, we are going to get it from the republicans eventually. How about the republicans start appointing some real judges that don’t allow these crazy lawsuits. It’s time to say the whole idea is garbage and throw it out. Be the party of no socialism. But no, the republicans still do not get it, and they want to be socialism lite.
