Applying for youth allowance – do parents need to have submitted a tax return?

Filed under: tax return — admin @ 6:28 pm

I am turning 16 in a month and will try to apply for youth allowance. My mum said that we havent submitted a tax return in 2009, will this affect whether I receive my youth allowance or not? I know I have to call Centrelink and get them to send me a form to fill out. Also, does my youth allowance get taxed?

I’m buying a house in march ’10 and I want to know if I can claim the home buyers credit on my 2009 tax return?

Filed under: tax return — admin @ 2:09 pm

I’m curious if I can do an amended return or something like that. I don’t want to have to wait until I file my 2010 tax return to get it.

Should I file tax return separately or jointly with new spouse?

Filed under: tax return — admin @ 8:50 am

I’m newly married. My husband is retired and receives a pension in the 0 range. I am working full time, and my income is in the low 6-figure range. What would be the better way to file our 2009 tax returns – separately or jointly? And would my new husband qualify as a dependent, or does his pension disqualify him from being a dependent?
